Brazil (1985)
Ranked #15 of 100 · Scientific accuracy 5/10 · Overall 7.25/10
Brazil is chaotic, strange and sometimes exhausting, but I think it might be the most accurate prediction on this list of what the future would actually FEEL like. Forget flying cars - this is a future of endless forms, broken ducts, surveillance, and a bureaucracy so huge that nobody is responsible for anything. The whole story is set off by a literal bug: an insect falls into a printer, a single letter changes, and the wrong man is arrested. If you've ever tried to fix an error on an official database, you'll know exactly how that feels. The science isn't really the point, which is why that score is middling. But as a prediction? Spot on.
